It is worth hiring a car when you arrive at Sicily Catania Airport so that you can explore areas off the beaten track and have the freedom to do it when you choose.

Trapani is an Episcopal centre with a cathedral which was built in 1635 and various other churches to visit including Chiesa Sant'Agostino (14th Century) and Chiesa Santa Maria di Gesu (15th-16th Century).

The magnificent Basilica-Sanctuary of Maria Santissima Annunziata houses a marble statue of the Madonna of Trapani and was originally built between 1315-1332 and rebuilt in 1760.
