Palermo airport is also known as Punta Raisi Airport or Falcone-Borsellino Airport in tribute to two anti-mafia judges who were assassinated in 1992 by members of the mafia.

Situated on the northern coast of Sicily, Palermo International Airport provides one of the main gateways to the island. All international and domestic flights are handled by the airport's single terminal.

Palermo International Airport is situated in Punta Raisi and on the coastline, next to Cinisi, Pozzillo, Terrasini and Torre Muzza, around 32km to the north-west of Palermo, which is Sicily's capital city.
Going from Palermo Airport to the centre of town by car takes around 40 minutes, depending on the traffic. From the airport follow highway A29 towards Trapani-Palermo and exit at Palermo Centro.

Information on Palermo Airport

There is a bank located on the ground floor of Palermo Airport and two cash dispensers (one for foreign exchange) can be found in the arrivals hall. A post office is also located on the first floor.

There is an Ecumenical Chapel located on the second floor of the iarport terminal which is open at all times and a Catholic mass is celebrated every Saturday at 19:00 and on Sunday at 08:45.

A baby care room is available in the passenger lounge as well as a First Aid post that is attended by Red Cross personnel and an ambulance service which is available 24 hours a day.
